They need to develop a car using alternative fuel, or total electric no half-breed. There are a lot of people that want a little car getting 40 or 50 mpg. Personally I will continue with 26 mpg for now. I want a completely alternative fuel car. Maybe total electric in the interm.
For those that want them continue making the big pick-up trucks, suv, and hummers. I don't want those either, but if you do you should have it. Sooner or later we have to develope alternative fuel because we will run out of oil. Why not do it now.

The body of the car planned for the United States would be built with fiberglass and injected foam. The chassis, composed of aluminum rods, would be glued together, not welded.
The crash tests would be interesting. Air car versus 18-wheeler.

i don't believe this. i would buy a car like a hybrid or an electric car if they didn't cost so much more than a normal car.

Not sure I understand this, but a re-chargeable hybrid (drive 40 miles or more on batteries, without gas). makes more sense to me.

It sounds good , really to good. It has not hit the streets in India or anywhere else. And we really think the oil people is going to let something like this come over to mess up there honey pot. They have bought everything that people has come up with to get better MPG. Something that gets 106 MPG would run them crazy.

A previous post stated that a lot of people could not afford $18,000 for a new car, I agree. Maybe the government would try to come up with a way to make them affordable for all; rebates, finance incentives, affordable leases...

At least it is a start in the right direction, now if they can make them low enough in price so that people can afford to buy them. And also they would have to be dependable.

lostorosbravos: It may be a good thought but if anything like that were ever available to the public the average American couldn't afford it. They offer all of these things but do not make them affordable and then wonder why we are addicted to oil! =====================
The article said they were looking at a target price of $18,000. That would still be $2,000 less than the Prius, and it would hold more passengers and get better than double the gas mileage. Of course, if the promoters are full of hot air ...

It sounds very interesting, but they usually over hype these types of things to pump up the interest levels. I'd buy one in a flash if it was already available, had reasonable performance, decent safety, and even half the gas mileage they're claiming.
I use a little Subaru Impreza now, but it only seats 5 and we had our 4th child 5 years ago. I need a backup that gets good gas mileage but will seat at least 6. I've been waiting for Mazda to roll out the Mazda 5 diesel mini-mini-van that'll seat 6 and get 45 mpg, but they haven't talked about it since the new more stringent air quality standards for diesels came into force.
If this thing got even 50 mpg and was acceptable in all of the other categories it would be a bargain.
Of course, that's a big "IF". It isn't in production yet, and it doesn't sound like they've even got a viable prototype for the US market yet. I've never heard of the company and don't know if they have any track record of trying to pull something like this off. I'd be more impressed if it was Honda or Toyota touting this, but they don't usually say much about these types of innovative vehicles until they're about ready to hit the streets.
I have to wonder about the safety of the air tanks with pressure levels significantly higher than even typical commercial tanks. I imagine they'd have to be pretty heavy duty and hence pretty thick and heavy as well. That would adversely impact the weight and the size of the vehicle. Someone noted that if an airline got a pinhole in it, the pressure would be enough to cut through pretty thick metal. It would go through an arm like a hot knife through butter.
I hope it's a viable new option, but I wouldn't necessarily be willing to bet a bunch of money on it.

If this car is really feasible as a production model, especially at that price, Terrific. The less fossil fuels we use the better. Even better would be the use of no fossil fuels.
